HEALTHY ITINERARY

The Muntanyeta Verda, a small promontory some 50 metres high is located on the northern side of the Natural Park. It is here that the majority of Mediterranean mountain vegetation can be found.

a) Source of River Salinar. 
Leave Muntanyeta Verda to the left and about fifty metres further on you will come to a spring of water. The large number of semiaquatic plant species, as is the case of the cat's tails, indicate that the source of river Salinar is to be found right here, a tributary of the Bullent. The clear waters of the El Salinar allow the river bed vegetation to be seen. Taking the path going along by this river you will see on the right the swamp vegetation characteristic of this area, such as the reeds and rushes, as well as other species such as mint.

b) Salinar path. 
You then come to a point where you can observe the river at length. Here you will see that the flow of this river is produced by the large number of underground water emergences (ullals). Just in front you will see the large diversity of botanical species coexisting in an interrelation technically known as ecotone. These species are carob and olive trees, lentisks, prickly pears,... which have as neighbours plants such as reeds, rushes and yellow irises, amongst others.

c) Blau del Calapatar. 
Following the path, you will see the river gradually widening, and be able to delight in the absolutely crystalline water. 
About fifty metres further on, where the Salinar comes out in the Bullent, you will see on the right an area known as the Blau del Calapatar, where you can have a leisurely look at the river Bullent and above all the water plants: longleaf pondweed, Miriophyllum, Ceratophyllum, etc., associated with semi-aquatic and swamp vegetation already mentioned. At this point you can also see the remains of a stone house which dates back at least to 1610, when chronicler Escolano mentioned this in one of his works. Then head back to the path which once more goes round the Muntanyeta Verda to lead you back to your starting point. 
After that, you can go up the Muntanyeta Verda and enjoy the panoramic view of rice fields. If you look right, you will see the Sierra de Segaria, easily recognisable through looking like a human face on one of its slopes; in the background you will make out the Montgó, another Valencian Community Nature Reserve, important for its endemisms and its orographic features.
