Pego launches the guided tour program "Get to know the museums of Pego"

14 October 2026

The Pego City Council, through the Department of Culture and with the collaboration of the technical team of the Casa de Cultura, is launching a new initiative to bring the artistic heritage of the municipality closer to the citizens. Under the name of "Discover the museums of Pego", the council has prepared a monthly program of free guided tours that will allow you to discover the works and exhibitions that this cultural space houses, as well as get to know the artists and the stories behind each creation better.

The proposal was born with the desire to give greater visibility to the exhibition spaces of Pego and facilitate access to art for both residents and people who visit the municipality. The visits will be designed for all audiences and will offer an enjoyable and accessible approach to the works on display, without the need for prior knowledge of art.

In this sense, the Councilor for Culture, Josep Mengual, highlights the importance of bringing these spaces closer to the public: "we want the House of Culture to be a living space, open to all citizens. Many times we have a very valuable artistic heritage by our side and we are not fully aware of its importance. With these visits we want to invite residents to discover it, get to know it better and enjoy art in a close and simple way."

One of the main attractions of the initiative is the possibility of discovering the valuable pictorial collection preserved by the Casa de Cultura, which includes the winning works of the "Vila de Pego" Painting Contest, a landmark competition that celebrated its fiftieth edition this year. In this way, the program will allow for the valorization of an important part of the municipality's cultural heritage and bringing it closer to new audiences.

"We are lucky to have a pictorial collection that has been enriched over fifty editions of the 'Vila de Pego' Painting Contest. It is a heritage that is part of our cultural history and that deserves to be known. We don't want these works to be just paintings exhibited in a room, but rather that people also know the artists, the stories and everything that is behind each painting," explains Mengual.

The program will begin on November 13 and 14 and will continue over the following months, with visits scheduled for December 4 and 5, January 8 and 9, February 19 and 20, and March 5 and 6. Each month, sessions will be offered on a Friday afternoon, at 5 and 6:15 p.m., and a Saturday morning, at 10 and 11:30 a.m., lasting approximately 45 minutes.

The visits will be held in Valencian and Spanish, with the possibility of also offering them in English by prior reservation. All sessions will take place at the Casa de Cultura de Pego, located at Carrer Sant Domènec, number 5.

With this initiative, the Department of Culture aims not only to publicize the exhibitions and municipal artistic heritage, but also to consolidate a stable and periodic cultural offer that encourages citizens to visit these spaces and discover the artistic wealth that Pego preserves.

People interested in participating in the visits can reserve their place through the Pego i les Valls Tourist Office, by calling 966 400 843 or 699 762 815, or through the Experiences section of the website www.pegoilesvalls.es.
