La Vall de Gallinera celebrates the Cherry Festival on June 13

The program for the 23rd Cherry Festival is extensive and varied, designed for both locals and visitors to enjoy the culture, gastronomy, and natural surroundings of the Vall de Gallinera.
9:00 a.m. Excursion from La Carroja to Alpatró, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes and of low difficulty.
Between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., guided tours will be offered at the Muntanya d’Alacant Cherry Cooperative to learn about cherry cultivation and the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). A bus service to the Cooperative will be available between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
From 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the "Fira de la Terra" (Earth Fair) will be open, featuring artisanal and locally sourced products.
At 10:00 a.m., the Benibatuka Batukada group from Vall de Gallinera will liven up the streets with a parade.
The Museu Etnològic l’Almàssera dels Moltó will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Children can enjoy traditional children's games and a pottery workshop from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
At 11:30 a.m., the Parish Center will host the presentation of the book *Cal que floresquen mil margarides. De l’ecologisme a l’ecologia política al País Valencià. De la reivindicació al govern* (A Thousand Daisies Must Bloom: From Ecology to Political Ecology in the Valencian Country. From Demand to Government), with Carles Arnal, PhD in Biology and member of Acció Ecologista AGRÓ.
12:00 pm Pilota match by the Vicent Alminyana Pilota Club of Vall de Gallinera on La Pilota Street.
12:30 pm Performance by Blue Guano.
2:30 pm Community lunch at the Joan Pellicer Social Center. Tickets, priced at €12, include appetizers, paella, dessert, and a drink. Tickets will be available until June 10th or while supplies last, without reservations, at Tenda Carmen in Alpatró, Forn Alfonso in Benissivà, and Cafetí in Pego.
4:30 pm The schoolyard will host the children's theater performance "The Devil's Three Golden Hairs."
4:30 pm Restaurant L'Almàssera in Margarida will offer a cherry cooking demonstration.
5:15 p.m. Historian Vicent Puig will lead the Alpatró Urban Route "Through the Streets of Memory," departing from the Plaça de l'església (Church Square).
5:45 p.m. International Cherry Pit Spitting Contest. Registration is at the Pego i les Valls Tourist Information Center.
9:30 p.m. Community Dinner at the Joan Pellicer Community Center. Tickets, priced at €12, include a drink, snacks, filled bread, and dessert. Ticket sales will follow the same conditions as for the dinner.
11:30 p.m. Performances by S. A For Dixieland, T – Rock Band, and DJ Gascó at the Joan Pellicer Community Center.
Parking and Transportation
Parking will not be permitted in the center of Alpatró. A large, designated parking area will be available on the straight road between Benirrama and Benialí.
Visitors are kindly requested to park in other towns or in this designated parking area and to use the free shuttle bus service provided by the Town Hall. This service will run through the Vall de Gallinera between 10:00 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., from the designated parking area to Benissili. Due to roadworks in Benirrama, the bus will not stop there, and residents should use both the designated parking area and the shuttle bus.
