FORNA CASTLE

FORNA CASTLE

History

SCHEDULE

Closed due to restoration.

DESCRIPTION

Stately residence (feudal palace) built at the end of the s. XV and principles of the s. XVI, within the Valencian Civil Gothic. It has no relation to the territorial division in the times of Al-Andalus. After the conquest by Jaime I it was built as a manor house by the Cruïlles. Forna's bond with the Cruïlles would last until the end of the 16th century. Its state of conservation places it as one of the most important castles in the province.
The castle treasures one of the best graffiti or graffiti ensembles that can be found in the surroundings, and it is thought that they were made by the master builders who built the building.
