Level of difficulty: medium-high
The walking path begins in the Laguar Valley, in the village of Fleix, taking the path towards el Lavadero. Take the path of the famous stone steps, which take you to the foot of the Barranc de l’Infern and go up again as far as the Jubees del Mig, continuing on this path you will reach a junction that will take you back down to the Barranc de l’Infern. Continue passing the Gili Spring, as far as the Ebo Valley. Afterwards, continue along the Alcalà Valley road, but first there is a turnoff that takes you down to the Gallinera Valley, crossing the valley to go up to the Safor summit.
EL MASSET LOCAL PATH..
Duration: 1 h.
Level of difficulty: medium
This path is one of the most beautiful in the Ebo Valley. It is a crossing path that links the Ebo Valley with the la Figuereta path, via the Saorí animal pen.
Start by taking the water treatment plant path, which goes along parallel to the river. About 100 metres after the treatment plant, take a concrete path on the left-hand side that crosses the river and heads towards the Ebo-Pego road. After 300 metres in the Pego direction, you will see the sign for the El Masset travesía (path), which goes up near some lampposts and reaches the Saorí animal pen, a good place to rest and look at the Ebo Valley. The path begins to go up in a spectacular zigzag, and we can understand the work done by our ancestors, going up a route that is almost a vertical wall. When you reach the flat, you will soon see the ruins of a small house; further on there is a pothole, l’avenc estret, which is 140 metres deep, on your right and crossing some terraces you will reach the path to the Refugio La Figuereta.
ELS TOLLS.
Duration: 1 hour
Level of difficulty: low
Start from the Ebo Valley, taking the path that goes to the camping area. Immediately on your right, crossing a bridge, follow a surfaced path that leads to el Lavadero and the Font de Serra spring. Here you can drink some fresh water. Follow the path, which goes up to the right; at the end of the slope you will pass through the abandoned Moorish village of Serra. Further on you will see a path with a chain. Go along this and before you reach a small house, take the path on the right. Going into a small holm oak wood, this takes you to the river, which you should cross, skirting the hillside upriver. You will soon reach a shelf where there is a large pine and here begin els tolls, which are different pools and falls of crystal clear water. The path continues rising gently, parallel to the ravine. Soon you will reach the Alcalà Valley road; on the left is the Cova del Rull and on our right you can return to the Ebo Valley.
BARRANC DE L’INFERN.
Duration: 4 hours
Level of difficulty: high
This is a route that is not signposted as such, since it follows the PR-V43 and part of the PR-V147. Set off from La Vall d’Ebo along the water treatment plant road, passing the Font del Gili spring and then immediately taking the PR-V43 walking path which goes along the right side of the ravine. Cross and continue up the left, arriving at an old animal pen. Here the path starts rising and it goes into a pine wood and exits at some terraces with almond trees and a small house. Continuing on this path you will reach the Barranc de l’Infern road. Continue on the right and after 45 minutes walking, turn off onto a forest track that, after about 200 metres, reaches a shelf where there are a number of animal pens, a fig tree and some holm oak groves. Beside these begins the path that will take us to the bottom of the ravine, passing the Font del Reinós spring. When you reach the bottom of the ravine, after about 300 metres on your left the ravine begins to narrow; here you can take some fantastic photos. From here, it is necessary to be equipped and you will need the right material as well as some experience in abseiling and climbing. Turn back and continue, walking along the bed of the ravine. Go carefully here, since it is necessary to walk on rocks and stones that have been worn smooth by the water and so may be slippery. Almost at the end, take a forest track that passes the Font del Gili spring and takes you to Ebo.
