OLD TOWN
   - TOWN HALL:
It is housed in a mansion built in 1857. It is unique in that it has an underground corridor that is open to pedestrian traffic and which leads to the small Plaça dels Portxins.

   - THE CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION:
16th-17th century). The Bell Tower was built later, in 1700. Inside the building you can see the “Retaule de l’Esperança” altarpiece in International Gothic style, the double Veronica and the Christ of the Sacristy, all dating from the 15th century.

   - THE ECCE-HOMO CHAPEL:
This is without doubt Pego’s most emblematic monument. It dates from the baroque period (1776). In the interior of the chapel you can see the 16th century Ecce-Homo, venerated as the town’s patron. Long ago this building was used as a hospital and also gave shelter to travellers and pilgrims.

   - THE CULTURE CENTRE:
In past times, the home of the influential Torres Sala family. This magnificent house was built in the 18th century and its interior patio preserves a piece of the ancient wall. This has been declared National Heritage. In this building you will find the Public Library, the Assembly Hall, the Historical Archives, the Modern Art Exhibition Hall, the Ethnological Museum (about the rice crop and traditional trades), and the “Juan Torres Sala” Entomological Collection.

   - THE “PORTAL DE SALA” GATE:
This is the last remaining of Pego’s three ancient gates. In medieval times the “Portal de Sala” gave access to the vegetable gardens. The ramparts were built in 1291, but during the War of Spanish Succession its 16 towers were destroyed.

   - EXHIBITION CENTRE:
located on Hospital Street, it is here where the ancient hospital was situated at the end of the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th.

    - THE FRANCISCAN CONVENT:
This monastery was built at the end of the 19th century and is a good example of Valencian Romantic ecclesiastical architecture. In its cloister is located the image of Brother Pascual Nadal, a native of Pego who was made a martyr in China.

   - THE AMBRA CASTLE:
The construction of this fortress started in the second half of the 12th century. Its function was to guard the road that connected Pego with La Vall d’Ebo. After the conquest 20 houses were built within the ramparts but were abandoned when the construction of the walled town began in 1280.

ROUTE OF THE CHAPELS
   - St Miquel’s Chapel: Located on St Miquel or Ravalet street, was built in the 16th century.
   - St Josep’s Chapel: On Passeig Cervantes, was completed in 1677 and restored at the beginning of the 20th century.
   - Saint Anthony’s Chapel: At 1 km from Pego, built during the reign of Philip II to attend to the spiritual needs of the Moors that converted to the Catholic faith. The architecture is typical of the so called “chapels of the conquest” from the 16th century.
   - St Joaquim’s chapel: At the end of the Stations of the Cross, it is possible to see the Valencian ceramics that decorate the chapels, representing the Passion of Christ. It was built in the 18th century and restored in 1891. The Sala family vault dates from the same.
